The city provides an abundant source of visual elements and a structure for the kind of paintings I want to make. I am excited by the visual complexity, rhythm and repetition of shape in the city. Sky is reflected and transmitted through glass walls and windows. Skyways create multiple horizons. Sunlight filters down through the guts of the city as in the forest. These are the forms that inspire my paintings.
